A total of 16 finalists have emerged in the Nokia ongoing ‘Don’t Break Da Beat’ rap contest organized in collaboration with Trace TV, the number 1 music urban channel.

Business News gathered that the contest approached its peak with 16 lucky finalists from Nigeria and Ghana set to battle for the star
prize.
Confirming this, Marketing Manager, Nokia West Africa, Ogbemi
Kesiena, said the 16 finalists got this far by posting a rap line on Facebook and Twitter,
using one of the key features of the Nokia Asha 210 Smartphone launched in July
2013.
Ogbemi explained that from the audition
stage, the contest has been really interesting with many youths from Nigeria
and Ghana entering with creative rap lines.
“We decided to take the competition
online to give more youths the opportunity to participate and win the cash
prize of $20,000. We had over 3,000 entries at the audition which the judges
have scaled down from 300 to 32 and now 16 lucky finalists,” he
said.

Kayode, Anthony Chukwuma Isamade, Muhammed
Nasir Abubakar, Henry Onazi, Oshodin Imadeode Israel, Golden Worlu,
Emmanuel Egwere and Miekharry
Adefemi Brice.
Ogbemi further said that at this stage the 16 contestants will
now have to video-record their rap performance to get votes. Stressing that the
video would be uploaded on Nokia Nigeria and Trace YouTube page, so viewers
could watch and vote for their favourite contestants.
“Voting will commence on the 14th of October,” he
revealed.
Nokia Don’t break
Da Beat rap competition was introduced in 2012 to inspire consumers to express
themselves and appreciate Nokia’s range of Asha devices. The show was warmly
received by youths in Nigeria and produced TKO as the winner of last year’s
competition. Round II of the competition was introduced this year along with
the launch of two new cool, sleek, social, youthful and colorful Asha devices,
Asha 210 and Asha 501.
