Edo to equip primary schools with ICT tools

Chairman of Edo Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), Chief Stephen Alao, has revealed that the state government would soon introduce Information Communication Technology (ICT) in public primary schools across the state to expose pupils in their formative years to the world best practices in basic education, DigitalSENSE Business News reports.

Alao made this disclosure in Benin City, capital of Edo State, saying that the state is poised to lay a solid foundation for the primary education of children to ensure a steady and qualitative progression in their career.

 DigitalSENSE Business News learnt from the chairman UBEB, that the government of Adams Oshiomole is so passionate about provide about sound basic education and pleaded with the people to be patient, as government cannot provide all their needs at a time.

 He explained that the state government had commenced the training and re-training of teachers in order to improve the quality of education in the state, stressing that “if we have well-modelled schools without well tutored students, of course, we are not going anywhere.”

He said that the present administration had improved school infrastructure and appealed the authorities of the schools that had already been renovated or upgraded to take good care of the facilities.

DigitalSENSE Business News noted from Alao that some schools had not been renovated and assured that such schools will be captured in the state’s 2014 budget.
