20 SMBs join forces on 2 mobile phones in Nigeria

Some 20 Nigerian Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) located in Lagos, may have concluded plans to introduce two mobile phone into the market before the end of November this year.

 Confirming this, President, Phone and Allied Products Dealers Association (PAPDAN), Mr Godfrey Iyke Nwosu, said at the inaugural edition of the monthly Technopreneurship breakfast meeting hosted by Technology Times for business leaders and Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) in Lagos, that the plans have reached advanced stages.

According to him, a pool of 20 Nigerian investors are working to introduce the devices to cater for local market.

 He also hinted DigitalSENSE Business News that the two new phone brands will be called iQ and MaxTel, to take care of consumers’ choice of the feature, medium and smart phone market segments.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Technovision, Mr Tomi Davies advised at the forum that the market leaders be mindful of the fast pace of technology and its impact on their businesses due to the age bracket of their customers that is below 24 years who form the core of 60 per cent of the population in market.

Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Computers and Allied Products dealers Association of Nigeria (CAPDAN), Ikeja Computer Village, Mr Ganiyu Alimi commended the organisers, for creating a platform to promote the key technology market, advising traders to strategise in accordance to the changing demographics of their consumers.


Founder of Technology Times, Mr Shina Badaru informed the invitees that the initiative is to promote new platforms that will further open up local technology businesses to an increasingly dynamic market in Nigeria, Africa and beyond.
