Kwara, Stanbic IBTC train youths on ICT

The Kwara State Government in collaboration with Stanbic IBTC have trained some 300 youths on usage of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and specifically on mobile money.

The youths were selected from the three senatorial districts for a five-day training exercise.
The training, which is put together by the Kwara State Government in partnership with Stanbic IBTC bank, is being held at the Computer Based Test (CBT) of the University of Ilorin.
The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, DigitalSENSE Business News gathered was represented by the State Commissioner for Youths and Sport, Hajia Ramat Adesina Abaya  flagged off the training at the University of Ilorin Main Auditorium.
“The training is an approach to empower the youth to gain computer literacy skills and to be engaged as the business of mobile money agents on Stanbic IBTC platform in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) cashless policy,” she said.
Also gathered by DigitalSENSE Business News is that the beneficiaries of the scheme who excel in the computer literacy skills assessment exams will be registered with the bank to act as mobile bankers in their villages or communities where accesses to bank service are limited.
In his welcome address, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Empowerment, Alhaji Sakariyahu Babatunde said that everything in this modern world revolves around the Information Communication Technology.
Hon. Adamu Ibrahim Sabi, Chairman, Kwara State House of Assembly Committee on Sport and Youth Development applauded the gesture of the state government and the steps taken by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Empowerment to engage the Kwara youths to become ICT literates.
