The 13th Telkom-Highway Africa New Media Awards
is now accepting entries, says the Conference
Manager at Highway Africa, Ms Karabo Tledima.
She also
told DigitalSENSE Business News that these awards seek to recognise individual journalists,
bloggers and media houses who innovatively use Information and Communication
Technologies (ICTs) in their reportage.
The awards, she said, also seek to acknowledge corporate and
not-for-profit organisations who might not be media operators, but whose
operations use ICTs to better communities within which they operate.
The conference manager added that the awards are pan-African
and media houses around the continent could apply.
“Organisations outside the African continent can apply only
if the communities within which their ICT services are used in Africa,” she
said.
Further, she urged potential participants to download the
Call-out for awards which are available in English and French with categories and awards information at http://www.highwayafrica.com/? page_id=8
She also noted that
registration for the conference which opened on June 14, 2013 would close
July 31 this year.
She pointed out that the 17th Highway Africa conference will
hold on September 1
and 2, 2013 at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape,
South Africa.
