Prof. Angaye, Director General, NITDA |
The Director
General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA),
Prof. Cleopas Angaye, has said that the growth rate of the nation's Information
and Communications Technology (ICT) sector is second, only to China.
According
to the NITDA boss, the sector is growing at a 30 per cent rate and is expected
to boost the outsourcing marketing to between $1.65 trillion, about N256
trillion and $1.8 trillion, about N283 trillion from its present $500 billion,
about N78.6 trillion.
Speaking
recently at the software competition conference organised by Institute of
Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) in Calabar, Prof. Angaye attributed
the success of the industry to the efforts of the agency in partnership with
the private sector.
Prof.
Angaye also said that the National Software Policy Committee (NSPC) set up by
the agency is to develop a National Software Policy (NSP) which will serve as a
blueprint to provide a roadmap to make the nation a competitive country in
software engineering and development.
”When the policy is eventually launched it will
provide the much needed impetus for the rapid development of the software
industry in Nigeria,“ he said.
... Making SENSE of digital revolution!
