Orya, Mokwunye lead experts to Business Journal annual lecture'13


The Managing Director/CEO, Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Mr. Roberts Orya and Group Managing Director/CEO, Royal Exchange Mr. Chike Mokwunye would be group of expert guest speakers at the 2013 annual lecture of Business Journal.

Also, the fifth anniversary lecture and awards ceremony hosted by Business Journal magazine slated for the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, supported by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and Nigerian Export-Import Bank among others, lecture with the theme ‘Is Nigeria Growing Forward or Developing Backward.’

The organisers disclosed to DigitalSENSE Business News that the lecture would offer a platform for stakeholders in critical sectors of the economy to review the state of the national economy, the media industry and come up with a roadmap for sustainable future.

The publisher/editor-in-chief of Business Journal, Prince Cookey, said the theme “is apt given the inability of the economy to create jobs and reduce high level of poverty in the country despite Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) growth of between six and eight per cent per annum, according to latest figures from the government and various international financial institutions”, he said.

As part of the anniversary lecture, distinguished personality such as Engr. Ernest Ndukwe, immediate past Executive Vice-Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and Mallam Isa Yuguda, Governor of Bauchi State would be honoured with awards at the occasion which holds on Friday, September 6, 2013.

Yuguda would be the special guest of honour at the event and would be honoured with ‘Champion of Good Governance & Sustainable Development’ award in recognition of his sterling qualities in promoting tenets of good governance in Nigeria and embarking on sustainable developmental
strides in Bauchi State.

Ndukwe will chair the event and would be honoured with ‘Telecom Life Achievement” award in recognition of his decades of achievements and commitment to the telecom industry in Nigeria.
