Employees of Etisalat Nigeria have reiterated support and care for the less privileged presentation of gift items to the Heart of Gold Children’s Hospice in Surulere, Lagos.

This is coming as part of the Etisalat Re-gift programme which started in 2011 as an internal corporate social (CSR) initiative of the company designed to promote social welfare and corporate governance.

According to the Manager, Public Relations, Etisalat Nigeria, Chineze Amanfo, Etisalat business partners, vendors and other well wishers who intend to present monetary or material gifts to employees during festive seasons are encouraged to channel such instead to the unique Etisalat Re-gift Programme.

Through the programme, she said, such gifts are donated to credible non-governmental organisations (NGOs) or other charitable organisations on behalf of the staff.

She also said that the initiative has steadily become an activity the company looks forward to, stressing that as a socially responsible company, Etisalat is continually looking for ways to impact the lives of people in the society.

“Etisalat is committed to the development of the society in which it operates. This programme is a way for us as a company and also as individuals to contribute our quota to the welfare and upbringing of under privileged children in our midst,” Amanfo said. She further pointed out that having to channel these gifts to a facility such as this Hospice, its believed will be more needed, and reiterates one of the core values of being a caring brand.

Commenting, the Founder and Proprietress of Heart of Gold Children’s Hospice, Mrs. Laja Adedoyin said that the organisation was truly humbled at Etisalat’s gesture towards the hospice.

She expressed her appreciation saying that the donations will go a long way in touching the lives of the children.

In addition to the Re-gift programme, Etisalat employees were also involved in a volunteer career counseling scheme which enables the staff to fulfill their individual social responsibility.
