Airtel Nigeria, within the week unveiled a new advertising campaign which says it got the most populated black nation covered, declaring it’s ready for Mobile Number Portability (MNP).

This, the company says was in demonstration of its robust and extensive network coverage across the country.

The new campaign, Airtel also says captures it’s numerous corporate milestones and emphasize its readiness to take advantage of the huge benefits of the soon-to-begin Mobile Number Portability (MNP).

Speaking at a press conference to unveil the new campaign in Lagos, the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya said the new advertising campaign on its network was necessary to draw attention to the enormous capacity of its network and its sweeping coverage of the length and breadth of the country which has given the company the confidence in its chances of success in the likely competition that would be occasioned by the imminent take off of the impending Mobile Number Portability.

He revealed that the company has made huge investments in its network, upgrading it to the largest and widest 3.75g coverage in the country with a total spread across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal capital Territory, Abuja.

“In the last 30 months, Airtel Networks Limited, has invested over $1.5bn (about N237,374,824,342 billion) to expand and deepen our network capacity and quality in Nigeria, in pursuit of world class Quality of Service (QoS),” he said.

Ogunsanya pointed out that it is on record that Airtel was first to call for the implementation of MNP way back in 2010, when the brand was launched in Nigeria.

“That call was made based on the fact that we were making significant investments in our network and customer service, which are critical success factors in MNP,” he said.

He further reiterated readiness of Airtel Nigeria for the opening markets, pointing out that the company had just successfully completed Nigeria’s first Long Term Evolution (LTE) trail in Lagos and some selected states across the country.

“We are the first telco to complete LTE trial in Lagos and we are also the first to introduce High Definition (HD) Voice Service to telecoms consumers. So, the unveiling of our new network campaign today bears testimony to our great efforts in terms of our massive investment and desire to empower Nigerians with innovative and relevant telecommunications services and solutions,” he assured.

The Chief Operating Officer, Deepak Srivastava said the new Airtel campaign tells the story of how Airtel is covering Nigeria and providing reliable and robust 3.75G network coverage.

The television commercial, radio jingles and other materials have been designed to appeal to telecoms consumers and excite them in line with the brand aspiration of becoming the most loved brand in the daily lives of Nigerians.

Airtel Mobile Number Portability is implemented in different ways across the globe. The International and European standard is for a customer wishing to port his/her number to contact the new network. MNP is a service that enables mobile telephone users to retain their mobile telephone numbers when changing from one mobile network operator to another and can do MNP Status Check.
