Tweeps on N5000 note: Allege Sanusi’s hidden agenda

Sanusi, CBN Governor
Following the announcement by the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to introduce new N5,000 note come 2013, Nigerians, especially Tweet enthusiasts, also refer to as Tweeps or Twitterians, alleging some hidden agenda.
According to some respondents, why introducing N5000 note when the evident will be very glaring on the economy, mostly few months after the Cashlite Lagos commenced. This is aside the condemnation that trials the estimated N40 billion to be used for the project of producing the new N5000 note, just as they wonder, how many roads in Nigeria that sum could fix.
Also, this is coming as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) expressed displeasure over the planned introduction of N5000 notes, arguing that it means that those receiving minimum wage, for instance, will hardly go home with just four pieces of the note, monthly, which has a psychological effect, insisting that this may increase the intake of corrupt tendencies among Nigerians.
Other Tweeps were concerned that it will be difficult to send anyone on errand with a N5000 note and could be another way of encouraging mobile transactions in the country, pointing out that its much easier to have money transferred via mobile payment systems.
Although CBN officials maintained that the decision to introduce the #N5000 note will strengthen the cashless policy of the bank.
