Swift Networks acquires Direct-On PC

Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Licensee of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) providing multi-service broadband connectivity services to businesses and residential subscribers, the Swift Networks Limited has acquired another Internet Service Provider (ISP), Direct-On PC (DoPC).

Confirming this to DigitalSENSE Business News on Wednesday in Lagos, the Managing Director of Swift Networks, Mr. Charles Anudu in company of the Vice chairman of DoPC, Mr. Mahesh Sadhwani, the chief operating officer, Swift Networks Mr. Chuma Okoye and Managing Director, DoPC Mr. Anurag Garg, disclosed that the acquisition was mainly on DoPC fourth generation (4G) broadband enterprise, which is a part of DoPC whole company.

He recalled that DoPC has a Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT), but Swift Networks focused on its core competence and does not want to dabble into the satellite aspect of DoPC business.

“We only acquired 4G infrastructures, and customers on DoPC would be well accommodated on our network,” he assured, stressing that the hitherto customers on DoPC would be duly informed about the changes in ISP services based on 4G broadband and how they will be migrated to Swift Networks, with the hope that Nigerian customers would appreciate this step by the company.
 
In furtherance of achieving this, Anudu said that Swift will soon, within 90 days roll out network in Lagos for the Long Term Evolution (LTE) to give customers on his network more broadband experience.
Equally Mr. Anudu said that they have gotten approval from the industry regulator, the NCC, adding that the government is desirous to see this kind of acquisition and this transaction will enable the government to be closer to the people, thereby making the deal sustainable.

“This is significant and will make Swift Networks more sustainable with better operating result,” he declared, describing NCC as an exception regulator in the country.
 
In his remarks, the vice chairman, DoPC Mr. Mahesh Sadhwani Swift has many things to look at in consideration of the acquisition, which took 18 months to consummate, insisting that several options were considered.

Sadhwani also congratulated Swift Networks, the management and staff, assuring that the migration would be successfully conducted very soon, emphasizing that these will be on LTE being invested heavily in the country. So our customers are going to have a wonderful experience ahead.
 
“LTE, he said, is a big commitment,” Sadhwani said.

Founded in 2002, Swift Networks is known to have invested heavily in "next generation” networking technologies to build a multi-service network platform.
