CWG reaffirms commitment to education

THE Computer Warehouse Group (CWG) has reiterated commitment towards the growth and development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the country by fulfilling promise to reward best performing students in computer sciences.

Head, Human Relations and Admin, Mrs. Olapeju Ayo-Fisher and Public Relations Executive, Mrs. Toyin Aderibigbe, both of Computer Warehouse Group, reaffirmed CWG’s position during an official presentation of computer Notebooks to the best graduating students of the computer science department of the University of Lagos for 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 academic sessions.
The presentation was done at the Vice Chancellor Conference Centre, Senate building, University of Lagos recently.
Abdulwahab Owoyemi Ibrahim who graduated as the overall best student of the computer science department for 2009/2010 session, and Okoilu Ruth who was the best graduating student of the computer science department for 2010/2011 academic session, were present to receive their awards.
In attendance at the award presentation, were the management staff of the university, led the by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rahman Ade-Bello. According to Olapeju Ayo-Fisher, CWG remained committed to promoting and encouraging academic excellence and would continually make significant investments in personal and community development.
The CWG officials affirmed the company is currently discussing with the university on the creation of IT Park on campus to enhance academic research and learning.
CWG had in the past two decades, continually supported IT education in the country, which is in line with her determination to support education in Nigeria and Africa, CWG won the best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ICT Company in 2011.
           DigitalSENSE News recalls that apart from supporting IT education at the University of Lagos, CWG has extended this support to other Universities in Africa where she has physical presence. In 2011 CWG made her first CSR mark in Uganda where the best graduating student in Computer Science department in Makarere University was rewarded with a brand new laptop and given automatic employment to join the service of the company which is the CSR policy of CWG.
