Business News at the formal presentation recently at the Ikoyi Club, Lagos,
the Director-General of SON, Dr. Joseph Odumodu represented by Head of
Metrology unit, Mr. Obiora Manafa, said that by this achievement, Mandilas has

organizations in Nigeria.
“This giant stride in the pursuit of excellence in providing
quality services to the Nigerian public is commendable and worthy of emulation
by all service providers whether private or public,” he said, congratulated the
management of Mandilas for this milestone.
Also, Odumodu noted that at a time when the global financial
crisis has greatly constrained expendable incomes, the need to re-engineer
processes for higher efficiency cannot be over-emphasised.
Pointing out that nowadays, there is a direct consequence of
the increasing demand of value-for-money together with constantly evolving
consumer requirements have made quality, even more central to spending
decisions
He maintained that any organization with a long-term view
towards delivering quality and continuous improvement of its strategic goal may
be the only strategy for survival and competition.
Stressing that companies that would deliver optimal value to
customers and investors would be those that establish and implement a robust
quality management framework, like Mandilas, for effective performance,
increased internal efficiency and improvement of customer experience.
“The NIS ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System approach
provides a globally recognized and acceptable solution to the challenges
associated with the managing quality and to delivering excellent customer
experience,” he said.
Odumodu further said that SON has shifted emphasis from
conformity to rules and regulations to the establishment of a system that
delivers actual performance outputs and which provides for continuous
improvement.
He went on to warned that in the event of non-conformances
are observed and corrected effectively within specified time frame, the system
will retain the certificate, but it would be withdrawn, if the structures in
place for certification break down and necessary corrective actions are not
taken on observed non-conformances.
He later presented the certificate to the Group General
Manager, Mandilas, Mr. David Edwards.
Responding on behalf of the management and staff of
Mandilas, the General Manager, AirCon Service Division, Mr. Pal Singh, he
commended the Mandilas ISO Team for a job well done, even as they are grateful
to SON for their valuable time and the assessment of Mandilas’ Quality
Management System with its eventual certification.
He reiterated that the morale behind the certification is
customer satisfaction, which was embarked on to improve services and thus
confident that more improvement would come from Mandilas operation.
Presently, he said, Mandilas is the only air-condition
servicing company with ISO certified, adding that Mandilas, their core services
include selection, supply and installation of air-conditioning systems by way
of providing annual maintenance contracts and supply genuine spare parts with a
staff strength of 180 qualified engineers to serve the Nigerian market.
“Mandilas Enterprise Limited is a sole distributor of Carrier and Toshiba product in Nigeria, therefore it’s important that any Carrier and Toshiba product coming into Nigeria is coming through Mandilas, installed, commissioned and serviced by Mandilas,” Mr. Singh asserted.
