Mandilas bags NIS ISO 9001:2008 for quality standard mgt

Mandilas Enterprises Limited has received the NIS ISO 9001:2008 certificate from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) in conformity to the requirements outlined in Quality Management System Standard (QMSS).

Speaking to DigitalSENSE Business News at the formal presentation recently at the Ikoyi Club, Lagos, the Director-General of SON, Dr. Joseph Odumodu represented by Head of Metrology unit, Mr. Obiora Manafa, said that by this achievement, Mandilas has joined the privileged class of Quality Management System certified organizations in Nigeria.

“This giant stride in the pursuit of excellence in providing quality services to the Nigerian public is commendable and worthy of emulation by all service providers whether private or public,” he said, congratulated the management of Mandilas for this milestone.

Also, Odumodu noted that at a time when the global financial crisis has greatly constrained expendable incomes, the need to re-engineer processes for higher efficiency cannot be over-emphasised.

Pointing out that nowadays, there is a direct consequence of the increasing demand of value-for-money together with constantly evolving consumer requirements have made quality, even more central to spending decisions

He maintained that any organization with a long-term view towards delivering quality and continuous improvement of its strategic goal may be the only strategy for survival and competition.

Stressing that companies that would deliver optimal value to customers and investors would be those that establish and implement a robust quality management framework, like Mandilas, for effective performance, increased internal efficiency and improvement of customer experience.

“The NIS ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System approach provides a globally recognized and acceptable solution to the challenges associated with the managing quality and to delivering excellent customer experience,” he said.

Odumodu further said that SON has shifted emphasis from conformity to rules and regulations to the establishment of a system that delivers actual performance outputs and which provides for continuous improvement.

He went on to warned that in the event of non-conformances are observed and corrected effectively within specified time frame, the system will retain the certificate, but it would be withdrawn, if the structures in place for certification break down and necessary corrective actions are not taken on observed non-conformances.

He later presented the certificate to the Group General Manager, Mandilas, Mr. David Edwards.
Responding on behalf of the management and staff of Mandilas, the General Manager, AirCon Service Division, Mr. Pal Singh, he commended the Mandilas ISO Team for a job well done, even as they are grateful to SON for their valuable time and the assessment of Mandilas’ Quality Management System with its eventual certification.

He reiterated that the morale behind the certification is customer satisfaction, which was embarked on to improve services and thus confident that more improvement would come from Mandilas operation.

Presently, he said, Mandilas is the only air-condition servicing company with ISO certified, adding that Mandilas, their core services include selection, supply and installation of air-conditioning systems by way of providing annual maintenance contracts and supply genuine spare parts with a staff strength of 180 qualified engineers to serve the Nigerian market.

“Mandilas Enterprise Limited is a sole distributor of Carrier and Toshiba product in Nigeria, therefore it’s important that any Carrier and Toshiba product coming into Nigeria is coming through Mandilas, installed, commissioned and serviced by Mandilas,” Mr. Singh asserted.
