Swift Networks reverses self on Ecobank, says matters resolved

Exclusive!!

Barely 24 hours after issuing a notice forbidding its customers to use Ecobank instrument, the management of Swift Networks Limited, a Lagos-based Internet Service Provider, has reversed itself by declaring that customers can now use Ecobank to settle financial transactions on its platform.

In a quick reaction, Swift Management says that following satisfactory resolution of outstanding matters, its customers can now use Ecobank for settlements.

“… Please be informed that you may now use Ecobank branches and instruments to pay for your SWIFT services,” a stated from the company made available to DigitalSENSE Business News read.

DigitalSENSE Business News recalls that Swift Networks had warned its customers to desist any payment through Ecobank with immediate effect on Wednesday afternoon.

And the message sent to Swift customers via its customer care lines and electronic mails (e-mails) urged customers to take note of this development, insisting that the use of any Ecobank instrument like cheque or bank draft may not be accepted.

“Please be informed that you should immediately discontinue making payments for your SWIFT services through any Ecobank branch or with the use of any Eco bank Instrument like cheque and/or bank draft. All other banks remain acceptable,” part of the message stated.

Investigations by DigitalSENSE Business News revealed that Ecobank is having a long battle with the Internet company, which has forced the company to put a seal on bank instruments such as cheques and bank draft to name a few.

Ecobank claims to have unrivalled presence across Africa and offers financing solutions and deliver a pan-African service including Internet banking service among others.
