Airtel Tanzania enthrones new leadership



New leadership on Friday, March 1, 2013 resumed at the Airtel Tanzania office led by the Sunil Colaso as the new Managing Director, taking over from Sam Elangalloor.

DigitalSENSE Business News reprots that the chief executive officer, Airtel Africa Anglophone Region, Jayant Khosla, said Tanzania is a key market for the Bharti family.

“Our ambitious long term plans will be realized through great leadership as well as best-in-class execution.  I am therefore pleased to see Sunil Colaso coming in to take this business to the next level of success,” Khosla said.

Describing Sunil as an excellent individual that brings along deep and broad experience in driving growth across Africa, Khosla said his dynamism, passion, energy and focus made him the right person to meet the expectations of millions of discerning consumers in Tanzania.

Colaso, he said, would be responsible for strengthening Airtel Tanzania’s leadership in both network availability and quality, with mandate to further strengthen data and value added service provision in line with global benchmarks and ensuring that Airtel Money becomes the preferred M-Commerce platform in the country.

He further said that Mr. Colaso, holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Mumbai, has over 22 years of experience in marketing, distribution and sales. Prior to this appointment, he has been the Director for Marketing and Distribution across 17 countries in Africa. Before joining Airtel Africa, Sunil acted as Managing Director for Warid in Uganda.
