Lagos sentences 32 Ladipo traders to jail

The Lagos State Special Offences Court which sat in Alausa over the weekend sentenced some 32 suspected hoodlums arrested last Wednesday by the Lagos State Task Force on Environment Special Unit at the popular Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market in Mushin-Lagos, reports CKN Nigeria.

According to the report available to DigitalSENSE Business News, some of the suspects who pleaded guilty were sentenced to 60 days imprisonment without any option of fine.

While the court reportedly granted bail to 10 suspected “Bakassi Boys” arrested in the market last Monday.

The state principal counsel, Babatunde Sunmonu, was quoted while confirmed this to correspondent that the 10 suspected “Bakassi Boys” who pleaded not guilty were granted bail with the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties each of whom must not be a civil servant in the state.

Sunmonu also explained that each of the sureties must be able to provide evidence of tax payment for 12 years and must have landed properties in Lagos.
