 CHRISTMAS is Nigeria is generally a get together and is celebrated with family and friends. As per convention, on Christmas Eve, animals previously purchased are slaughtered and conventional meals are prepared.

Famous meal in Nigeria consists of rice served with tasty chicken curry, which is same to the chicken stew. Moi-Moi mixed with vegetable oil and diced liver, fish, chicken and prawns are included in the conventional meal. This dish is usually steamed till it’s cooked. Nigerian enjoys tasty food and loud music. Christmas is the best time for them to indulge in it. During Christmas, Nigerians plan for a short trip. Streets and houses are decorated during Christmas in Nigeria. Christians in Nigeria also arrange big parties to celebrate Christmas festival. Songs are sung and new outfits are worn. People enjoy Christmas parties in Nigeria with drinks.
Artificial Christmas trees are bought, adorned and placed in the houses, restaurants, shops and hotels. Christmas in Nigeria surely cannot be completed without Christmas cake, which is the most significant thing during Christmas. In Nigeria, during Christmas, people come together and have great fun. Several different languages are spoken in Nigeria, Most of the Christmas families in Nigeria arrange parties, which last all night long on Christmas Eve. They go to church for giving thanks to God. Christians in Nigeria like to play with firecrackers during Christmas.
Christmas cards are sent to family members, relatives and friends during Christmas. Kids also receive gifts from Santa Clause. Many families, which live in cities, go to the villages where their relatives and grandparents live. They celebrate the special time of the year with their relatives and grandparents.
Palm fronds signify peace in Nigerian custom. The country of Nigeria is rich in cultural plays. There are different plays to be performed at many different occasions. In celebrating Christmas festival, music are played to entertain young and old. The drama team dances with a bay in hand signifying the new born baby Christ, God’s gift to mankind. Admirers accept that baby doll and give gifts to the participants of the drama.
