Angel’s Fair comes to Lagos

Ghanaian technology entrepreneur, Mr. Eric Osiakwan has disclosed to DigitalSENSE Business News that all is now set for the first Angel Fair to come to the city of excellence and commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, Lagos.
He said that between March 30 and 31, 2014, estimated 100 investors and entrepreneurs from across the globe, would assemble in Lagos to ‘do deals in at the inaugural Angel Fair West Africa (AFWA).
DigitalSENSE Business News gathered that AFWA is organised by the Angel Africa List (AAL) in partnership with the Lagos Angel Network (LAN) and the African Venture Capital Association (AVCA).
According to him, AFWA would see a selection of entrepreneurs pitching for their businesses, giving investors the opportunity to prioritize those they wish to meet.
Osiakwam noted that in the afternoon, attendees would meet entrepreneurs in order to explore investment, business development and other types of deals.
“There will also be an investors’ and entrepreneurs’ panel session,” he said, pointing out that after its successful launch event in Johannesburg last year, Angel Fair is already recognized as a top five player in the Africa startup Eco-system.
He described Lagos as the hub for a multitude of startup businesses, hence it was chosen to host the inaugural Angel Fair West Africa which have confirmed participants attending from the Lagos Angel Network, Ghana Angel Investment Network, Angel Africa List, Africa Angels Network, Africa Venture Capital Association, existing angel groups in Senegal and networks from within and outside the continent.

DigitalSENSE Business News recalls that the idea for an Angel Fair with a pan-African focus was created by South Africa-based ArtLogic in partnership with renowned angel investor and technology entrepreneur, Ghanaian Eric Osiakwan and Jamie Clyde, a corporate entrepreneur and CEO of THE IN COMPANY.
