Technology giant,
Qualcomm has the history of being the first on its evolutionary products, says
the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Qualcomm
Incorporated, Mr. Anand Chandrasekher.
“We have the
history of first,” says Anand, stressing Qualcomm’s modem technology
leadership.
He made this
assertion at the presentation he made to the group of technology editors
attending this year’s Qualcomm Editors week at the company’s headquarters in
San Diego, California, United States, tagged “Qualcomm: Transforming Lives,
Reshaping Industries.”
According to him,
Mobile is redefining computing and Qualcomm is not waiting for others to lead
the way, as the company is practically showing the way and future roadmap.
He highlighted the
fact that mobility is the largest technology platform inhuman history, noting
that since Qualcomm was founded some 27 years ago, it has consistently shown
the path to innovative technologies by driving the evolution of mobile.
This, he said, is
also achieved by enabling high-speed data networks and devices that today are
redefining not only mobile, but also computing.
The evolution, he
notes has traversed from mobile handsets to smart phones and laptops and
definitely to Television viewing on mobiles.
Qualcomm, the
Chief Marketing Officer said, owns several technology keys that drives the world
today.
“We own the key
technologies in the follow blocks, namely Digital Signal Processor (DSP),
Graphic Processing Unit (GPU), Central Processing Unit (CPU), Third Generation
(3G)-Long-Term Evolution (LTE), connectivity, Location and Radio Frequency (RF),”
he said.
In furtherance of
his position, the CMO pointed out that Qualcomm currently have over 5550 LTE
original equipment manufacturers (OEM) devices that are acceptable on its LTE
chips.
He explained in
company of the Vice president for Global Marketing, Public Relations and
Communications, Mr. Dan Novak that having a unique IP allows Qualcomm to do
better work than any known competition.
Adding that small
cell everywhere involves low cost, small size and ease to deploy and that is
the future outlook of Qualcomm, considering that Internet of everything means
that everyone around us is increasingly becoming intelligent and connected.
Also speaking, Mr.
Novak said that in-house experts from various departments and outside have been
lined up to interact with the editors, even as relevant questions on current
and future outlook of the company would be answered.
He recalls that in
July 1985, seven industry veterans came together in the den of Dr. Irwin
Jacobs’ San Diego home to discuss how best to build “Quality Communications”
and outlined a plan that has evolved into one of the telecommunications giant
today known as Qualcomm Incorporated.
Qualcomm, he
noted, began by providing contract research and development services, with
limited product manufacturing, for the wireless telecommunications market,
resulting in OmniTRACS which has grown into the largest satellite-based
commercial mobile system for the transportation industry today.
The company, DigitalSENSE Business News gathered has
patent and extensively licensed portfolio in the industry with over 195
licensees.
Qualcomm currently
plays key role in adoption and growth of 3G and next-generation wireless across
the world.
