All is now set for the two-day
Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum on Internet Governance for Development (IG4D) and
Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable 2014 as it commences today at Welcome Center Hotels,
International Airport Road, Lagos, between June 5 and 6 in Lagos, reports ITRealms.
According to the Executive Director,
Operations, DigitalSENSE Africa Media, the organizers, Mrs. Nkemdilim Nweke,
relevant arrangements have put in place to ensure the success of 2014 edition.
She also told ITRealms that as at last night, some delegates and speakers have
begun to land in the city of Lagos from various parts of the country for the
two-day forum, including Prof. Sylvanus Ehikioya, who is ready to take
participants on Personal Securities on the Internet for the 21st
century.
The Minister of Communication
Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson also confirmed participation and would later
today declare the event officially open. Mrs. Johnson, she noted would be
represented by the Director, e-Governance at the Ministry, Mr. Tope Fashedemi
to be chaired by Prof. Charles Uwadia.
Mrs. Johnson would be joined by the
Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Dr. Eugene
Juwah and Director-General, National Information Technology Development Agency
(NITDA) Mr. Peter Jack among others at the forum heavily supported by the likes
of Internet Society Nigeria chapter, Computer Warehouse Group, Resort Savings
and Loans plc, Smile Communication, Medallion, Teledom Group to name a few.
The Executive Director, Operations further
disclosed that the former Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communication and
chairman of OpenMedia, Dr. Ndukwe will be sharing some insights on Nigeria's
Broadband Perspective to Internet Protocol version Six (IPv6) during the Nigeria
IPv6 Roundtable session, to be led by Telecom icon, Engr. Titi Omo-Ettu, CEO,
Cyberschuul.com.
According to Mrs. Nweke, the 2014
DigitalSENSE Forum series is a two-day event, explained that Day-1 would focus
on Internet Governance for Development (IG4D) to be chaired by Prof. Charles
Uwadia, the former president, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and Head, Computer
Science department, University of Lagos.
"This year's theme for day 1 is
'Internet Governance, eBiz & Open Access in Nigeria' holds today, June 5,
2014," she asserted, emphasising that Uwadia would be supported by the
current NCS president, Prof. David Adewunmi, president, Nigeria Internet Group
(NIG), Bayo Banjo, ATCON's president, Lanre Ajayi, chairman, Business and
Technology Publishers Foundation (BTPF), Mr. Ken Ugbechie, President, Institute
of Software Practitioners of Nigeria, Mr. Pius Okigbo Jnr, Chukwuemeka Fred
Agbata, the chief encouragement officer, CFA and Executive Director, Paradigm
Initiative Nigeria (PIN) Mr. Gbenga Sesan with exciting moments.
Tomorrow, Friday, being day-2 Mrs.
Nweke said, is June 6, with the theme: IPv6 and Broadband Penetration in Nigeria in commemoration of World IPv6 Day in exclusive collaboration with ISOC Nigeria.
Pointing out that high-level
panelists for this session include Dr. Ernest Ndukwe of the National Broadband
Council, Mr. Mohammed Rudman, chief executive officer, Internet Exchange of
Nigeria (IXPN), Chairman, ICT Media Taskforce, Mr. Aaron Ukodie, and President,
Internet Service Providers Association of Nigeria (ISPAN), Mr. Sunday Folayan to
name a few.
She urged Nigerians who are unable
to make the event to join with #NDSF-IG4D14 and #NDSF-IPv614 on any of the
