Country Manager for Dell in Nigeria, Mr. Chuks Ulu Udensi said that the showcase held in collaboration with both Microsoft and Intel offices in Nigeria, shows how important and anxious the company is to bringing its products closer to the Nigerian customers.
He also disclosed that Dell has plans to establish 16 Carry In Service (CIS) across the country, but currently have about six channel partners in Lagos, catering for customers.
Udensi noted that with the launch of these new products in Lagos, Dell has ushered in the next era of computing with a redesign portfolio of business and consumer Personal Computers (PCs) designed to take advantage of advances in new operating systems.
According to him, these Dell products were built to best optimize Windows 8, stressing that Dell has crafted inspired designs that enable new user experiences and make touch computing available to more customers than ever before.
“As of today, consumers in Nigeria will be able to purchase a range of new Dell products for home and for business including the XPS 10 tablet, Latitude 10 tablet, XPS 12 convertible Ultrabook, Inspiron 14z Ultrabook, Latitude 643g Ultrabook,” he said.
Equally speaking on line of products, the Client Product Marketing Manager for Anglophone East and West Africa, Annie Odo-Effiong, explained for instance that the 10-inche Latitude 10 tablet fits simply and securely into existing Information Technology (IT) environments and offers rich multi-media features, accessory compatilibility, and full compatibility with current Windows applications.
“Like all products in Dell’s commercial laptop line, the Latitude 10 plugs easily into existing management consoles, features a swappable battery and touts robust optional security features such as Dell Data Protection Encryption for encryption from the hard drive to Universal Serial Bus (USB) port,” she said.
Odo-Effiong further said that for industries such as healthcare and government, the new tablet will feature an optional fingerprint and smart card reader for two-factor authentication; available in early 2013.
The Latitude 10, she said also offers up to 18-hour battery life and an optional productivity dock and active stylus, hence, ideal for work and great for home.
Dell as an organization, she pointed out, has evolved and will continue to evolve.
On Dell XPS 10, she said, it redefined productivity, rethink tablets, thus a blend of engineering and art, designed to enhance productivity from the outside-in.
In his contribution, the Consumer Channels Group (CCG) Lead, Microsoft Anglophone West Africa, Mark Ihimoyan said that the launch of these products with Windows 8, is an indication that Microsoft reimagines windows to the world.
“Whether you want a tablet or a PC, whether you want to consume or create, whether you want to work or play; Windows 8 delivers a personalized experience that fits your unique style and needs,” he declared, adding that the Windows 8 comes with a new fast and fluid start screen that gives you one-click access to the applications and content they care most about.
“The entirely new Internet Explorer 10 that is perfect for touch, and built-in cloud capabilities with SkyDrive,” Ihimoyan said.
And for the Market Development Manager at Intel Nigeria, the combination of Windows 8 and Intel’s leading-edge processors and SoCs will deliver the world’s best client computing experience.
“Windows 8 presents a significant growth opportunity for Intel in extending our leadership to new form factors with Ultrabook devices, convertibles and tables,” Babajide said.
