All is now set
for a one-day workshop and exhibition for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s)
scheduled to hold on Thursday, August 16 at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(LCCI), Ikeja-Lagos, on cashlite.
Lead organizer of
the event, Mr. Kayode Yeku, told DigitalSENSE News that the event was spurred
by the recent cash policy introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
He says, it
would drive modernization of the payment system, reduce the cost of banking
services as well as encourage more technology based on electronic transactions,
operators of mobile payment platforms (POS, Mobile Transfers) to name a few.
He also quoted experts
in on-line payment integration corridor as having confirmed participation for
the event.
According to Yeku, the event tagged “Technology –in-
Business: Evolve or Dissolve” is
supported by the CBN, Ministry of Communications Technology, Small and
Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN),
National Information
Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigeria Internet Registration
Association (NiRA) and Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), under the auspices of Gold Apples
Group in collaboration with Media Glitz Ltd as part of efforts to position SMEs
for the impending change.
He further said, SME owners are expected
to grace the event and get morale booster for the change, being the first line
of the business publics that will drive the ‘Cashless’ project through their
various businesses.
Additionally, he noted that in order
to encourage SME’s to take their businesses to the next level, that all SME’s
have the
unique opportunity to benefit immensely through a guaranteed volume
rebate of between 50-70 per cents on offer at the event by all participating
vendor companies are hereby encouraged to register at www.technologyinbusiness.biz.
Some of the companies expected include
Telecommunications companies MTN, Etisalat, Computer Hardware companies, Omatek,
Software companies, Stanbic IBTC, and other operators of Mobile payment
platforms to be led by Interswitch.
