Women in Ogun get N100m credit

The Ogun state government through the state's micro credit scheme has empowered more than 4,400 women in the state with N100million, Mrs Elizabeth Sonubi, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, disclosed this recently in Abeokuta, while presenting cheques to some of the beneficiaries.
Elizabeth Sonubi added that a total of N1billion would be disbursed to enhance the livelihood of women across the state and making them to be productive and self-reliant.
According to her, the loan attracts nine per cent interest rate and the second phase of the initiative would start in December this year.
Sonubi also made known that 178 youths from the 20 local government areas of the state are currently undergoing skills acquisition training in hairdressing, shoe-making, knitting and fashion design.
She also revealed that 60 participants of such training had earlier received grants to establish themselves. 
The scheme, NaijaAgroNet gathered is under the Economic Empowerment Programme and was supported by Ecobank.
