Eric Akumiah of AfTLD, Mary Uduma, NiRA president, BoT chair Dr. Isaac Odeyemi
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA), Dr. Isaac Odeyemi, has charged African domain name managers on developing business around their domain names to spur penetration.

DigitalSENSE Business News reports that Odeyemi made this call during his remarks at a three-day workshop on Advanced Registry Operations Course (AROC) hosted by NiRA and Africa Top Level Domain (AfTLD) Organisation in Lagos.

He said, there is need for Africa to develop alongside other parts of the world, especially in domain name business.

In order to achieve this, Odeyemi, who is one of oldest Africa computer scientists, advocated for the development of business strategies to deliver this to the populace, mostly in largely economy like Africa.

Odeyemi, who also is the chairman of Debis Computers, expressed optimism that the course would propel participants to conduct their domain name businesses better.

“After these programme you must be able to do business better,” he charged, stressing that their contribution must be made in a way to make themselves proud in life.

“When you develop human capacity, work out a few things through collaboration so as to have a voice for yourself,” he said.

Participants at the workshop which lasted between May 6 through 9, came across the continent and the course content include evolving technical skills and understanding of registry operations, understanding network management principles related to a registry; tools used in monitoring and managing a registry, as well as network architecture requirements for effective network management in addition to the basics of contingency response plan.

... Making SENSE of digital revolution!
